This document describes the LIF/MLP protocol developed by the Open Mobile Alliance, a method for obtaining an iDEN device's GPS coordinates remotely without the need for having a client application installed on the device. This platform, enabled through Openwave Location Studio, allows for location requests through the network using GPS or using cell-site coordinates when GPS is unavailable.

At this point, we are making our instance of Location Studio available to a select number of developers and partners who have an established business relationship with Nextel International in our Latin American markets.
