Presentations from 2nd Nextel International Developer and Partner Conference and Expo
The 2nd Nextel International Developer and Partner Conference and Expo, which took place in São Paulo, Brazil on May 22 and 23 of 2007 was a success.
For the benefit of the conference attendees and for developers who could not attend, we are making available the following presentations that were delivered during the conference:
BlackBerry MDS Studio
The BlackBerry MDS Studio is a new tool for rapid development of native BlackBerry Applications that connect to one or various web services (supported through either WSDLs or SOAP commands). MDS Studio includes a visual development environment, which, in conjunction with a reduced version of ECMAScript (JavaScript), allows a web developer to build a native client-server application without having to learn Java ME.
BlackBerry Wireless Handheld Browser Version 4.1 Content Developer Guide
This document describes how to develope WAP or XHTML-based "Browser Push Apps" for optimal user experience on the BlackBerry. Particularly, it describes how to build an application that, using only HTML, can receive remote information updates. This allows a developer to quickly enable a dynamic web page for use on a BlackBerry device even when the device is frequently in and out of coverage.
BlackBerry Application Developer Guide (Java) (Vols. 1 & 2)
These two volumes describe the use of all available functions for development of Java-based applications, along with the specific BlackBerry or Java ME APIs available to developers. These two guides are the first place you should consult in terms of the capabilities for Java development on BlackBerry devices.
Volume 1 describes functions usable by all Java-based BlackBerry applications. Volume 2 describes the functions that require a digital signature in order to be used.
Version 4.1 is the correct version for development of applications on BlackBerry 7100i and 7520 devices that have the 4.1 version of the BlackBerry OS.
