3G

The 3G network is comprised of the most recent technology enhancements available for UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System), providing broadband wireless, voice, and value added services.

Nextel’s focus and technological transition will be to focus on implementing in most of our markets 3G networks. We have already launched in Peru and next year we are launching Chile’s network.

3G impacts 3rd party application development opportunities by providing new SDKs and opportunities for broadband applications. The opportunities are various and among them are the following:

• The development opportunities increase significantly due to the technology that we will be working on (wCDMA).
• The availability of models and brands.
• The functionalities of the devices without regarding the phone tier.
